Metro Birmingham forecast: Cold to ease its grip for few days

It was 35 degrees in metro Birmingham and after a taste of freezing nights during the weekend, central Alabama should see warmer days during the work week, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast for today calls for sunny skies with a high near 68 degrees. Patchy frost is possible tonight but the low should drop only to 37 degrees.

Tuesday should warm quickly, reaching a high near 75 degrees and the overnight low should drop only to about 42 degrees.

The rest of the work week should be similar with highs in the mid 70s and nightly lows in the 40s. The possibility of rain returns with the weekend and the high temperatures likely will drop into the 60s.
