A 52-year man was killed earlier today and a woman taken into custody in a stabbing incident that Birmingham police say resulted from a domestic dispute.

The incident happened in the 800 block of 77th Way South at 11:30 a.m., according to a Birmingham Police Department press release. East Precinct officers responding to a call about an assault arrived to find out that the victim, Jerry Davis of Eclectic, had been taken to University Hospital by private vehicle suffering from a stab wound.

A female suspect was taken into custody at University Hospital. The suspect's information will be released pending completion of warrant procedures, police said in the release.
