It was 41 degrees at 6 a.m. in Birmingham and central Alabama is unlikely to warm up much today. Cold pushing into the region will settle in for a weekend stay, according to the National Weather Service.The forecast for today calls for cloudy skies and a high just under 50 degrees. A freeze warning is in effect for tonight with a projected low below freezing at about 30 degrees.
Saturday should be sunny and clear but warm only to 52 degrees. The temperature Saturday night should fall again to about 30 degrees.
A little warmth should return Sunday with sunny skies warming to near 60 with an overnight low around 35 degrees.
